EXCAVATION

From small evaluation trenches and test pits to medium and large-scale excavations, Archaeological Services WYAS has considerable experience of field projects having carried out hundreds throughout the north of England and beyond.

Working in advance of and alongside construction contractors we have been involved in a wide range of developments, including road schemes, pipelines, mineral extraction, retail and commercial initiatives and housing developments.

Excavation can be a costly and time-consuming exercise and, whilst we are committed to providing a high quality service, we are, where possible, always willing to explore different and more cost-effective strategies for fulfilling the specified mitigatory requirements. Consequently, we liaise regularly with County Sites and Monuments Records, English Heritage, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and the Home Office, on behalf of our clients, in order that their archaeological requirements are resolved with minimum fuss and maximum efficiency.
