Archaeological Services WYAS maintains a professional and well motivated team in order to be able to deliver a comprehensive range of cost-effective archaeological solutions, that allows our client's projects to progress as rapidly as possible.

Our Quality

As an Institute for Archaeologists Registered Organisation, possessing ISOQAR accreditation to standard ISO 9001:2008, the quality of Archaeological Services’ work and business practice is assured. The organisation is vastly experienced in successfully supplying commercial archaeological services and employs a core staff of 20, but the total number of employees fluctuates according to requirements, and in recent years the workforce has numbered 50. All staff are appropriately trained and qualified and all work is carried out in compliance with relevant professional and industry guidelines. Work is also carried out in accordance with our own rigorous in-house Health and Safety procedures and each site is the subject of a thorough Risk Assessment.

Our History

Archaeological Services WYAS was created as the commercial arm of the former West Yorkshire Archaeology Service in 1986. Although it continues to be administered via the West Yorkshire Joint Services Committee, it is run on an entirely independent commercial basis.
